EUROMAR is committed to a Code of Conduct based on respect, equity, and inclusivity in order to promote a safe and respectful environment for all persons associated with EUROMAR. This Code of Conduct therefore applies to all committee members, conference participants, vendors and providers of goods and services who interact with EUROMAR.
EUROMAR2025 Code of Conduct
All conference participants are expected to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination in any form.
Expected Behavior
Respectful Communication:
Engage in respectful and constructive communication. Do not use inappropriate, discriminatory, or offensive language. Emphasize respect and good manners in all circumstances, including in conflict management and social media activities.
Promote a positive, safe, and peaceful conference environment.
Professional Conduct:
Conduct yourself in a professional manner. This includes treating all participants, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers with respect and courtesy.
Act with the professionalism required by your position while remaining mindful of the power you have and intervene in inappropriate behavior.
Support the freedom of expression and use it responsibly.
Inclusivity:
Make efforts to include all participants in discussions and activities. Listen to different viewpoints and encourage diverse perspectives.
Unacceptable Behavior
Harassment:
Harassment of any kind, verbal or physical, is not tolerated.
Discrimination:
Any form of discrimination based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited.
Intimidation:
Physical or verbal intimidation, including threats or aggression, is unacceptable.
Reporting Incidents
If you are subject to or see any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to the Chair of EUROMAR2025 (Ville-Veikko Telkki) and the Chair of the EUROMAR Board of trustees (Anne Lesage) immediately. You can send the report to COC@euromar2025.org. All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.
Enforcement
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior regardless of the warning given, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including expulsion from the conference without a refund.
