I joined Karolinska Institute (KI) as an Assistant Professor in 2013, establishing Sweden's first NMR lab for RNA structural biology. My team develops methods in NMR and RNA dynamics and sample production. In 2022, I was appointed Professor of Medical Biochemistry at Uppsala University. I’ve received generous funding (e.g., Ragnar Söderberg, Wallenberg Academy Fellow, Swedish Research Council) and several prizes (e.g., Ampere Price in 2018, Hugo Theorell Award in 2022). We have been studying RNA dynamics in viral systems (e.g., HIV, Sars-Cov-2) and microRNAs and revealed RNA excited states and their impact on function in vitro (Nature 2012, 2015, 2020). We have expanded our toolbox with DNP-enhanced solid-state NMR (NAR 2024 for RNA dynamics), RNA structural probing (RNA 2022), and in-cell NMR methodologies (ChemBioChem 2019, JBNMR2024).
