Matthias Ernst is Professor in Physical Chemistry at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. After a PhD on relaxation in solution-state NMR with Richard Ernst, he changed fields to work on solid-state NMR during a postdoc with Alex Pines at Berkeley. He then joined the research group of Beat Meier as a senior scientist first in Nijmegen, The Netherlands and later at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. His main interest is in theory and method-development for solid-state NMR especially under MAS for Hamiltonians with multiple time dependencies.
